Peake who was in the red corner displayed her promise right from the off as her height advantage was
noticeable throughout the final. The Ballyhaunis boxer had her father, Martin in her corner and her
mother, Sue, also in her backroom team, making it a proud occasion for the Peake family.
Speaking to Sky Sports Boxing afterwards, Carlagh Peake stated, “I hope to go to the next Olympics, at 51kg, that will be more natural. If not, I might go professional. Eoghan Lavin in my club has gone pro, and now I look up to him a lot.” Lavin from Swinford is continuing to make strides in professional boxing and was also in Peake’s corner in the Manchester venue.
