In a tightly packed and enthralling weekend of boxing in Dublin’s National Boxing Arena, there was plenty of success on the Mayo front, with a stream of fighters taking home national titles.

In the 68kg B1 final on Friday, Pete Maughan of Ballina put on a fantastic display of boxing to dispatch of David Kocjan, from Carrick-on-Suir’s Saint Nicholas Boxing club, on a 4-1 split decision.
The event is a landmark one for the young puncher, who has now tasted national glory for the first time.
Hugh Molloy, from Westport club Saint Anne’s, recorded a unanimous decision over Davie Joyce in the 62kg B1 title decider.
Ardagh Crossmolina BC added another title to their trophy cabinet when Thomas Keaveney came home with 100kg title after receiving a walkover in the Boy 2 final.
Ballyhaunis also had silverware to toast by the end of the weekend, as two fighters came back over the Shannon with victories secured.
Nikita McDonagh was incredible in the G3 43 kg decider and recorded a 5-0 victory over East Meath Boxing Club’s Victoria Goszczyk on Saturday evening.
The second Ballyhaunis fighter, Cheyanne Ward, was awarded a walkover in the 59kg G2 Championship.
Unfortunately, Millie O’Sullivan wasn’t able to make it a Ballyhaunis hat-trick as she lost to Ellie Ward from Belfast club Bryansford ABC in the G2 33kg final.
Sean Conway, also from Saint Anne’s, couldn't make it a brace of titles for the Westport club, as he lost out to Dealgan’s Jimmy McDonagh in the 50kg division.
Roisin Sheerin also unfortunately lost out on BG2 finals day, as Rochfordbridge’s Sianna O’Herron beat the Swinford boxer in the 51kg decider.
At the BG3 finals, Rose Dunleavy from Swinford was unable to outbox Wexford and Gorey’s Remy Gallagher as she lost out in the 68kg final.
