Carne Golf Links was recognised for its outstanding workplace culture and employee engagement

A Mayo tourism business has been recognised among Ireland’s leading employers after winning a prestigious national award at the Fáilte Ireland Employer Excellence Awards 2026.

Carne Golf Links was named Best Employer: Activity at the awards ceremony held in Dublin’s Radisson Blu Royal Hotel.

The annual awards celebrate tourism businesses that are setting the standard for employee experience through participation in Fáilte Ireland’s Employer Excellence Programme. The programme has supported more than 300 businesses and positively impacted over 30,000 employees nationwide since its launch in 2022.

The Mayo golf destination was among 16 tourism businesses from across the country honoured for excellence in areas including leadership, communication, employee development and workplace culture.

Speaking at the awards, Peter Burke praised the role of employers in supporting the tourism workforce.

“The tourism sector is powered by its people, and the Employer Excellence Programme is playing a critical role in ensuring our people are supported, valued and given the opportunity to thrive,” he said. “These awards recognise businesses that are leading the way, and I congratulate this year’s winners for their commitment to building a more sustainable and attractive tourism workforce.”

Chief Executive of Fáilte Ireland, Caroline Bocquel said the awards recognise businesses placing employees at the heart of their success.

“Tourism is, at its core, a people industry, and the quality of our visitor experience is directly shaped by the people who deliver it,” she said. “A sustained focus on employee engagement, leadership and workplace culture is delivering real benefits, not only for employees, but for business performance and the wider tourism sector.”

The recognition is another boost for Mayo’s tourism sector, which continues to earn national and international acclaim for the quality of its visitor experiences along the Wild Atlantic Way.
