Water outage affects North Mayo homes after pumping station failure

Uisce Éireann expects supplies to be restored by 3pm as alternative water supplies are put in place
Around 30 homes in the Bonniconlon area were without water this morning following an overnight mechanical failure at the Cahra Pumping Station.
Uisce Éireann has provided alternative water supplies, including bottled water and water bowsers, at two locations: across the road from Bonniconlon Church and beside the Bonniconlon reservoir.
Repair crews are working to restore the pumping station, with water supplies expected to return by approximately 3pm today.
The utility acknowledged that customers in the area have experienced intermittent water supply disruptions in recent weeks and thanked residents for their patience.
Uisce Éireann is also renewing its appeal for customers across Mayo to conserve water as the ongoing warm weather continues to place significant pressure on supplies.
Residents are being encouraged to use water only for essential purposes, check for leaks and follow simple water-saving measures to help protect the network.
Customers can report leaks on the public water network by contacting Uisce Éireann’s 24-hour helpline at 1800 278 278 or visiting Uisce Eireann’s website.
