The proposed development comprises 10 apartments and 38 houses, with a combination of apartment duplexes, semi-detached houses and units ranging in height from two to four storeys.

A planning application has been lodged with Mayo County Council for a major residential development in Westport.

Golden Hill Developments Ltd is seeking permission to construct 48 residential units on a 1.93-hectare site located north of Horkan’s Hill Road in the town.

The proposed development comprises 10 apartments, including six one-bedroom and four two-bedroom units, alongside 38 houses. The housing mix will consist of 18 three-bedroom and 20 four-bedroom homes, with a combination of apartment duplexes, semi-detached houses and units ranging in height from two to four storeys.

The plans also include 90 surface car parking spaces, incorporating electric vehicle charging facilities, as well as 102 bicycle parking spaces.

Public open space will account for 15.6 per cent of the overall site area.

As part of the proposal, the developer is seeking to create a new vehicular and cyclist entrance from Horkan’s Hill Road, together with a new footpath and connections to the existing road network.

Mayo County Council has stated that members of the public wishing to make an observation or submission on the proposed development may do so in writing to the planning authority, subject to the required fee, within five weeks of the authority’s receipt of the application.
