The local community of Ballina is in mourning following the tragic death of Cian Farrell, aged 18, of 8 Libadore, Ballina, Co. Mayo, who passed away following a road accident on Sunday morning.
The fatal crash occurred on the L5140 local road at Laghtadawannagh, near Ballina, County Mayo, shortly after 4.15am on Sunday, March 1. The vehicle, carrying five occupants in total, was involved in a single-car collision that claimed the lives of two young men, Cian (18), and Padraic Tuffy (19).
Cian, described as an adored and loving son, is survived by his heartbroken mother Louise, his brothers Mikey and Jimmy, along with his aunts, uncles, cousins, and his many friends and school colleagues. He was predeceased by his grandparents Peter and Ann Farrell, and his uncles Peter and Padraic.
Cian will rest in repose at his home in 8 Libadore, Ballina F26 V8P2 on Thursday from 4pm until 7pm. The family requests that the house remain private to close friends at all other times.
Removal from the family residence will take place on Saturday morning, with Cian's funeral Mass scheduled at St Muredach's Cathedral, Ballina at 11.30am. Burial will follow at Ballinahaglish Cemetery.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the fatal crash and are particularly keen to hear from any road users who were in the area at the time of the collision and may have dash-cam or other camera footage that could assist the investigation. Investigations are ongoing.
