Bar Square on Garden Street, Ballina, will host a major International Women's Day celebration this Sunday, March 8, from 3pm to 5pm, bringing together women from across County Mayo for an afternoon of inspiration, community and shared experience.

The event will feature keynote addresses from two well-known local figures: Margaret Loftus and Dr Lisa Cunningham, who will each reflect on their personal journeys and experiences. Clara Gardiner, who represented Mayo at the Rose of Tralee International Festival as Mayo Rose 2025, will also take part in the celebration.

Guests will be welcomed with a drinks reception on arrival, followed by an engaging programme of addresses and discussion. The afternoon will conclude with live entertainment and a bingo session, rounding off the event in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.

The celebration is being held in support of Safe Ireland Mayo, shining a light on the vital work the organisation carries out for women and families across the county.

“We wanted to mark International Women’s Day in a meaningful way by creating space for women to come together, hear powerful stories and support one another, while also raising awareness for an important local cause,” Clair Carr, Owner, Bar Square said.

Clair Carr, owner of Bar Square, expressed enthusiasm for the event’s ethos, emphasising the importance of creating meaningful space for women in the community.
