Phase One of the Ballina Sensory Park is now complete and open to the public.
The Ballina Community Clean Up Group is delighted to announce that Phase One of the Ballina Sensory Park is now complete and is open to the public from Tuesday, December 2.
This project has been worked on by our volunteers and our partner groups since 2021, when the Freeze For February campaign encouraged hundreds of local people to dip in the icy waters at Caltra, to raise funds for this great initiative.
Many other fundraising efforts have taken place in the meantime. Since the park project started, an enormous amount of advance planning and work on the ground has been done, mostly by volunteers from our locality.

Ballina Sensory Park will be a haven for all to come and enjoy, but will be most especially welcomed by neurodivergent children. It was designed with inclusivity at its core, and visitors to the park can expect an interactive experience where they can also relax in a serene and beautiful environment.
Ballina Sensory Park is located at Sligo Road, on the banks of the River Moy at Tom Ruane Park, where the ABC Park is also situated, ensuring that all children and people with disabilities can enjoy activities that suit their needs, all in one fantastic location.
Ballina Community Clean Up Group extends a huge thank you to all the groups that are partnering with us on this very special project: Thank you to FLOW Community Project, ACT (Accelerating Change Together), MFA Consulting Engineers, Cunnane Stratton Reynolds Land Planning & Design, Mayo County Council and all of the contractors that worked with us.
Special thanks are extended to all the volunteers who put enormous time and work into bringing phase one of this great new addition to our town to completion. This would not have been possible without your hard work.
It is hoped that the sensory park will be enjoyed by all for generations to come, especially the people who most need and will most benefit from this very special new space.
