Mayo Senator appointed to Oireachtas Committee on Transport

Senator Mark Duffy has today been appointed to the Oireachtas Committee on Transport

Speaking after his appointment, The Fine Gael Senator said: “I take this appointment very seriously and endeavour to serve on this committee with commitment and integrity”.

Duffy also stated that “there is a lot of work to be undertaken on Transport which will be of immense importance to the people of Mayo”

The Ballina man spoke with great pride as he stated: “It is an honour to be part of any Oireachtas committee and with honour comes important obligations; to scrutinise draft legislation and the work of Ministers and Government departments, as well as to advise on policy issues and to engage with stakeholders”

Duffy went on to discuss his key priorities which include projects that will be of interest to many people in Mayo: The Western Rail Corridor, continued investment in Ireland West Airport Knock, and road upgrades were announced as a priority while Senator Duffy also raised the delivery on local transport plans and safe routes to schools projects as key priorities

The recently appointed Oireachtas Committee member concluded: “I am looking forward to the work of this committee commencing and to deciding on priorities areas, so that we can embark on our work plan with focus and determination."
