1,800 runners from Mayo and further afield flocked to the event
Thousands gathered in West Mayo on Achill Island on Saturday for the 20th annual Half Marathon and 10k, celebrating two decades of community, endurance, and scenic racing. Over 1,800 runners took part in the landmark event.
Despite misty Atlantic conditions, spirits were high as competitive racers and fun runners alike tackled the challenging course. Victories went to George Snee and Caitlin Billman in the Half Marathon, and Shane Begley and Becky Coughlan in the 10k.
The event, proudly sponsored by Westnet, highlighted Achill’s breathtaking beauty and tight-knit spirit. Organisers are already looking ahead to 2026, with registration opening later this year.
