Freya Renton to the fore in yet another record-breaking run

Yet again, Mayo athlete Freya Renton blew away the competition when she secured another gold medal at the National Juveniles Track & Field Championships over the weekend.

The Westport AC athlete showed her class to put in a record-breaking display in the U-16 girls 3000-metre race at the Tullamore Harriers Athletics Club.

Her time of 9.44 in Saturday morning's event beat the previous record of 9.46.01 set by Donore Harriers runner Emily Bolton in 2023. Furthermore, she was a total of 13.5 seconds ahead of the chasing pack.

Unsurprisingly, Freya's twin sister Holly secured silver and yet another spot on the podium. Her time of 9.58.5 was enough for her to pip third-placed Beth Reamsbottom.
