'I can't do it' - Leo Varadkar to star in ultimate survival series on RTÉ with Ray Goggins
Leo Varadkar is set to star in the brand new RTÉ One adventure series Uncharted with Ray Goggins as well as a number of other well-known Irish faces this May.
The four-part series will see Irish celebrities from the world of politics, sport and music pushed to their limits by special forces soldier Ray Goggins in some of the most treacherous environments on the planet.
Everyone will be well out of their comfort zone in what has been described as "the ultimate test of survival and resilience."
Each week, two celebrities will be paired up and and new physically and mentally exhausting challenges will be set by the host Ray.
The former Taoiseach will kick-off the series with the Cork-born singer Lyra. The pair will travel to the untamed mountains of Drakensberg, South Africa with Ray where they will sleep in caves, scale mountain peaks and climb sheer rock faces before making their way to one of the tallest waterfalls in the world, Tugela Falls.
The rap trio Kneecap will then take on the Arctic with the special forces soldier in a gruelling five-day challenge that will truly push them beyond their limits. Unsurprisingly in an environment that can see temperatures dip as low as minus 40 degrees, an ice blast even threatens to cut the challenge short for the group.
Bolivia is next on the list for the series with Paralympic gold medallist Ellen Keane and six-time All-Ireland Camogie star Ashling Thompson taking on their massive challenge. There they will embark on a huge seven-day trek of almost 100km on the 'Death Road' through the dense cloud forest of Bolivia and climb the Andean Mountains.
Finally, Galway hurler Joe Canning and track and field star Thomas Barr will join Ray in Colombia where they will navigate treacherous class-five river rapids, deadly snakes and venomous spiders.
The series will air on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player on Wednesday, 14 May at 9.35pm.
