The Urlaur native passed away in recent times at Mayo Hospice, Castlebar
MARY Waldron (née Towey), Tulyganny, Urlaur, died recently in the care of the staff at the Mayo Hospice in Castlebar.
She was a lady who was so closely associated with the community life of the Urlaur region over many years.
The news of the passing of Mary was received with great sadness by all who knew her down through the years.
She was blessed with a warm and generous nature and her affable manner endeared her to so many people.
Mary and her husband Seamus were such a part of the social life of the region. They loved music and dancing and were always supportive of local singers and bands and Midwest Radio.
They had such an easy rapport with people and were very much at the heart of the local community.
Many tributes were paid following her passing:
Kay and Pakie Carey and Jerome McDonnell of The Country Stars (Erris) said they had the pleasure of meeting Mary and Seamus at dances in the Brusna Inn on many occasions.
They loved music and dancing and always came up to them after the gig.
John Hanily and Fred Mulryan of Heart’s Delight recalled great memories of Mary and Seamus dancing to their music over many years.
Deirdre and Gerry Meehan, Urlaur, remembered Mary’s enthusiasm, love of people and devotion to the church and particularly the Urlaur Choir.
Tomas and Celine Phillips said Mary was always fun-loving, good-natured and positive.
Reposing was at Donnellan’s Funeral Home, Ballyhaunis, followed by interment in Urlaur Cemetery after Requiem Mass in St Joseph’s Church, Urlaur.
Mary is survived by her husband Seamus, daughters Noreen, Carmel, Olivia and Elaine, son James, sons-in-law Federico, Remco and Adrian, grandchildren Adam and Róisín, brothers Jimmy and Eddie, cousins and many friends and neighbours.
