The Kilmovee resident wpent many of his formative years living in Taughmaconnell, Co Roscommon, and Templeogue, Dublin
FRANK Grehan, Kilmovee, who died recently, was formerly from Taughmaconnell, Co Roscommon, and Templeogue, Dublin.
Frank and the family immersed themselves in the community life of the Kilmovee region after moving to Mayo.
He spent close on a decade at Davitt House in Castlebar and also took a keen interest in the local Shamrocks Club.
James Hunt from Kilmovee was among those joining in the tributes. “Frank was a man of deep faith and regularly read the readings at Mass.
“He was a very intelligent man who understood the revenue and tax system and loved to chat about any subject you care to mention.
“He was very humble, genuine and honest, with no airs or graces and had a great willingness to help wherever the need arose. He loved sport and the banter that went with it and I still find it hard to believe he is gone from us as he seemed a very healthy man.”
Kieran Tarpey, Kilkelly, stated that he will miss the political, rugby and football chats every week with Frank.
Peter Nyland, Urlaur, said it was a pleasure to be in Frank's company. “He had an interest in many areas and I enjoyed our conversations about education and football in particular.”
Reposing took place in The Sharkey Funeral Home, Ballaghaderreen, with interment in Naomh Mobhí Cemetery following Mass of the Resurrection in Kilmovee Church.
Frank, who was predeceased by his brother Malachy, his sister Kathleen, and his sister-in-law Connie, will be sadly missed by his wife Mary and their family, Francis, Miriam, Emer and Niamh, grandson Jude, brothers Michael (Dublin) and Ger (Taughmaconnell), sister Nuala (Cappataggle), Francis’ partner Sarah, brother-in-law Christy, sister-in-law Breda, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends.
