The Mullingar native spent many of her formative years in Milltown and Knock, as well as working in Bank of Ireland

ANNE McWalters, Lynn Heights, Mullingar, who died peacefully in Castlebar Hospital in recent days, was formerly of Knock, Milltown.

She was daughter of the late Joe and Bernadette and was also predeceased by her brothers John and Francis and her sisters Mary and Celine.

Anne spent many contented years with the Bank of Ireland in Mullingar where she was such a cherished colleague.

Later times saw her devote herself to the many people availing of the services of the Department of Social Welfare (DSP) in Longford where once again her empathy and generosity of spirit always shone through.

Her compassionate nature, along with her delightful sense of humour, ensured that Anne was a welcome guest in any company.

So many of her friends from her days with the Bank of Ireland and DSP, Longford, as well as from around Milltown, have shared very fond memories of a lady who radiated goodness and kindness along life’s journey.

Mary Forde, Knock, said she had fond memories of Anne and her late sister, Mary, from their school days in Carna. “She was a lovely, friendly lady with a great sense of humour and must be commended for her wonderful work in Ghana and Tanzania. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam uasal, dílis.”

Marion O’Toole, Kinnegad, commented: “Anne was a great supporter and friend to the ‘All Saints' Coffee Mornings in Mullingar. We loved her company, her gentle wit and her great sincerity.

“May she rest with the Angels in God's loving care.”

Reposing was at Glynn's Funeral Home, Tuam, and interment took place in Addergoole cemetery following Requiem Mass in St Patrick's Church, Garrafrauns.

Anne will be sadly missed by her brother Michael, her sisters Martha and Louise, sister-in-law Una, brothers-in-law Michael and Tom, nieces, nephew, relatives, neighbours and friends.
