WESTPORT GAA have urged the public to donate to their ongoing Oskars fundraiser to support the work of its charity partner Westport Social Services.
The West Mayo club have pledged to donate a percentage of the proceeds from the Oskars to Westport Social Services, which is currently unable to fundraise from its charity shop.
The charity provides a range of local services, including a much-needed Meals On Wheels service.
Clare Walsh, manager of Westport Social Services, said the support from Westport GAA ‘could not have come at a better time’.
“Westport Meals On Wheels are moving from this premises while they renovate and unfortunately, when we come back, we don’t have our charity shop which subsidises the meals, so this is actually going to be a great, great boost to us at the moment,” she said.
Westport GAA Vice-Chairman Paul Gannon thanked all the individuals and businesses who have support the sold-out Oskars, which takes place tomorrow night (April 27) in the Castlecourt Hotel.
