The Junior B Championship decider was due to take place in Islandeady. However, a change of circumstances prompted the switch.

Mayo LGFA have had to source a new venue at short notice for their Junior B Club Championship decider between Kiltane and Kilmaine, after Islandeady withdrew the availability of their facilities.

The decider between the two clubs was pencilled in for Friday, October 2, at 7.30 pm, with silverware and pride on the line for both clubs.

However, the host club has reneged on their decision to make the pitch available.

The Mayo News have learned that Islandeady GAA cited their need to use the pitch for training, as they prepare for their controversial Intermediate Championship quarter-final replay with Kiltane.

Thankfully, an alternative venue has been sourced for the final. The game will now take place at the Connacht GAA Centre of Excellence in Bekan.

Last Sunday, in a keenly contested last-eight meeting in Bangor Erris, the hosts advanced after extra time on a 0-27 to 1-21 score line.

However, the result was mired in confusion after Kiltane were allowed to field 15 men for the 10-minute periods of extra time, in spite of having two players sent off for second bookable offences.

That was in spite of a rule change in 2024, stating that players dismissed in normal time were unable to be replaced if a game went to extra time.

Following an Islandeady objection, a replay was ordered to take place at 3 pm on Sunday, October 4, in Parke. However, The Mayo News understands that Kiltane have strongly considered launching a counter-appeal, as they earned the right for the original home quarter-final to be played at home by virtue of topping their group.
