Castlebar Mitchels LGFA is inviting expressions of interest from ambitious individuals or management teams to lead its Adult Ladies football team for the 2027 season, with one clear objective – a return to Senior Championship football.

Following the team’s move down to Intermediate level, the club is determined to embrace the challenge ahead and build a strong, competitive environment that will see Castlebar Mitchels challenging for honours once again.

The club is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated manager, or management team, who can bring fresh ideas, strong leadership and a positive approach to player development. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to shape the team’s future, nurture emerging talent and help restore the club’s place among Mayo’s senior ladies football teams.

While previous coaching or management experience would be an advantage, the club also welcomes interest from individuals with high-level playing experience, enthusiasm and a genuine passion for ladies football. A key priority will be creating a positive, supportive and competitive environment where players can thrive, both individually and collectively.

Castlebar Mitchels LGFA would also like to extend a sincere thank you to outgoing management team members Rodney Clarke, Russel Gibbons and Conor Waldron for their dedication, hard work and commitment to the club. The club greatly appreciates the time, energy and effort they have invested in the team and its players. Their contribution to ladies football in Castlebar Mitchels is sincerely valued, and the club wishes all three every success in their future endeavours.

Looking Ahead to 2027, Speaking about the appointment, a member of the Castlebar Mitchels LGFA Executive Committee said: “We have a talented group of players and a club with great ambition. While moving to Intermediate is disappointing, we see this as an opportunity to regroup, rebuild and come back stronger.

Our priority is to find someone who believes in these players, can bring the best out of them and shares our determination to return to Senior football. We want to build something positive and lasting, and we’re excited about what the future holds for Castlebar Mitchels LGFA.”

The club is also keen to strengthen the pathway between underage and adult football, ensuring emerging talent is supported as players progress through the ranks.

Applications are welcomed from individuals or established management teams who share the club’s ambition and enthusiasm. LGFA/GAA coaching qualifications are desirable, and the club will support successful applicants in completing Garda vetting and safeguarding requirements before taking up the role.

Expressions of interest should be emailed to [email protected] by Sunday, November 15, 2026. All enquiries will be treated in confidence. Shortlisting may apply.
