Mayo GAA county finals thrown into question due to weather warning

As the weekend is jampacked with all four Mayo GAA county finals and two LGFA Connacht semi-finals, a weather warning update has raised doubts over whether the matches can go ahead.
It’s a busy weekend ahead, but an Orange weather warning has thrown the schedule into question.
The county intermediate and Junior B finals are due to take place on Saturday afternoon while Breaffy are due to play their LGFA Connacht junior championship semi-final in Sligo.
On Sunday, Moy Davitts play their LGFA Connacht intermediate championship semi-final in Foxford, while Ardagh and Eastern Gaels face in the county junior final. And to top it off, Castlebar and Garrymore are scheduled to play the senior final afterwards.
Now, Met Éireann have issued an orange wind warning for Saturday, October 24:
Storm Boelo is bringing Gale force westerly winds with severe and damaging gusts. Prepare for impacts: Damage to already weakened structures, damage to power lines, power outages. Disruption and delays to public transport likely (air, rail, bus, ferry), danger of fallen trees, large coastal waves, loose objects displaced.
Met Éireann have warned people to expect very difficult travelling conditions, dangerous conditions at sea.
The orange wind warning for Mayo is in place from 14:00 Saturday October 24 to 09:00 Sunday, October 25.
Additionally, there is a yellow rain warning in place for Mayo on Saturday, from 04:00 until 15:00.
It would not come as a surprise, if Mayo GAA at least decide to cancel the matches on Saturday, as there was a similar situation last year when Storm Amy hit the county in early October. Mayo GAA made the decision to postpone all fixtures in the Senior, Intermediate, Junior, and Junior 'B' Championships due to the impending storm.
"Player and supporter safety is of paramount importance to Mayo GAA,” a statament read back then.
The 2024 county senior final was also postponed when Storm Ashley meant the game between Knockmore and Ballina Stephenites had to be moved to a later date.
This weekend, as the orange wind warning expires on Sunday at 9am, the championship matches pencilled in for Sunday in Hastings Insurance MacHale Park will probably not be affected by the current weather warning. This of course, is subject to change if the warning were to be extended or renewed.
