Ecstasy was flowing across the land as Mayo lifted the Sam Maguire Cup in a historic. Here, we ran the rule over the performances on a historic day.

1. JACK LIVINGSTONE An assured first innings for the net-minder in his first decider. Solid on kickouts, with few going astray. Couldn't do much with David Clifford's net-shaker. As the game went on and the fat was in the fire, the pride of Breaffy kept his composure, as he has done since Clones.

2. JACK COYNE Captain Jack, All-Ireland-winning captain, was exemplary across the 70 minutes as the driving force. Whether it was ensnaring Paul Geaney or leading an extraordinary defensive unit, the skipper is another who will be remembered forevermore.

3. DONNACHA MCHUGH The full-back produced a stellar second half. Had a few moments against the totemic David Clifford, as so many do, but steadied the ship and was on him from the word go. Was burned by Fossa's finest for his three-pointer, and was caught by a high press, but those were the only blots on an otherwise spotless copybook.

4. EOIN MCGREAL When the game was in it's infancy, the Garrymore tackler got Mayo supporters off their feet by dispossessing David Clifford. Formed part of a solid rearguard who didn't cough up too many nervy moments against a side of this calibre. Gave every fibre of his being to bringing Sam Maguire west, and that they did.
