Mayo Road Safety Office will mark World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims on Sunday November 15, remembering all those who have lost their lives on our roads, those who have suffered life changing injuries and the families and communities whose lives have been devastated by road traffic collisions.

The annual day of remembrance provides an opportunity to remember the precious lives tragically lost on our roads and the profound impact this has on their families, friends and wider communities as well as those seriously injured as a result of road traffic collisions.

It is also a day on which we reflect on the tremendous work carried out by the emergency services on a daily basis. It also serves as a reminder that every road death is preventable and that everyone has a responsibility to make our roads safer.

Speaking ahead of the day, Frances Mitchell, Mayo Road Safety Officer said “Road safety is a responsibility we all share, and we must continue to work together to prevent further tragedies on our roads. Every life matters, and no journey is so important that it is worth risking someone’s life.

“I encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on their own road use and to make responsible choices every time they travel. Our shared ambition must be to ensure that everyone gets home safely.”

On World Day of Remembrance, Mayo Road Safety Office encourages everyone across the county to pause, remember those affected by road traffic collisions and renew their commitment to making our roads safer for all.
