Bathing prohibition issued for Mayo Beach pending water quality results

Mayo County Council advises the public not to swim at Mulranny Beach until test results are available
Mayo County Council has issued a Bathing Prohibition for Mulranny Beach following reports of potential water quality issues.
A “Do Not Swim” advisory was initially put in place this morning (Thursday, July 16) while the bathing area was inspected and water samples were taken.
The advisory has now been upgraded to a Bathing Prohibition as a precautionary measure.
The council said the prohibition will remain in place until the results of the water quality tests are received on Saturday, July 18.
Members of the public are being asked not to enter the water at Mulranny Beach until further notice in the interest of public health.
Mayo County Council said it will provide a further update once the test results have been analysed and the water quality has been assessed.
