The Custom House Studios + Gallery, Westport has announced it will present two exhibitions which will open on Thursday, March 5 at 6 pm.
Irish artist, Susan Mannion, is set to exhibit her work titled ‘Pilgrim’, where she explores the profound human impulse to seek out sacred places near to water, where the entwining of place and story occurs. Drawing from her work as an archaeologist, the work examines the physical and spiritual layers of the Irish waterscape.
Also exhibiting will be ‘A Tenuous Line’, a multimedia exhibition presented in the upstairs gallery by Niamh McGuinne. McGuinne’s practice combines print, sculpture, film and installation.

Her work sets out to investigate the formulations of middens, accumulations of discarded material, and historical rubbish heaps. There are 77 midden sites situated in Mayo, eighteen of which are sheltered in Clew Bay, typically containing shells, bones and other such remnants of survival.
The exhibitions will open on Thursday, March 5, at 6 pm in the Custom House Studios + Gallery and will run until Sunday, April 12.
