Reserve Garda Ciaran Collins from Westport Garda Station was recently honoured at the RSA’s annual awards ceremony, in Croke Park. Ciaran’s video on distracted driving, was given a special recognition award, having received over 547,000 views.
The video, which also features Garda Tony McCabe from Westport, highlights the dangers of holding a mobile phone while driving. The judges noted that the video, which is among many road safety videos he has done, was made on a zero budget, and so at no cost to the state. Ciaran is also a member of the Westport Coast Guard, and epitomises the spirit of volunteering.
