Mayo Minister launches Intreo Work and Skills Events

Over 45 events are taking place nationwide focusing on careers and training and on supporting jobseekers with additional support needs or a disability.

The Minister for Social Protection, Dara Calleary TD, has announced details of the Intreo Work and Skills events which are taking place across the country.

On September 29, a Hospitality Recruitment event will take place in the Clew Bay Hotel in Westport from 11am to 1pm. This event will host a wide range of employers in the Mayo area, including The Grace - Westport Estate, which is opening in Spring 2026, which is hiring 170 new staff.

Over 45 events are taking place nationwide from Monday,  September 29 to Friday, October 10 with a huge range of opportunities in a variety of sectors including financial services, transport and logistics, hospitality, healthcare, retail and many more. Some of the jobs on offer from many local hotels, bars and restaurants include roles for managers, chefs, receptionists, porters, bar staff and spa therapists.

The Work and Skills events provide jobseekers with an opportunity to connect with employers who are actively recruiting. Jobseekers also can learn about the training options available, and avail of job seeking advice to help them take the next step in their career.

Commenting on the events, Minister Calleary said: “The Work and Skills events are an invaluable chance for jobseekers to meet directly with employers and learn about jobs on offer as well as finding out about training options available.

“They also offer a great opportunity for people to find out more about the supports and services that are available from the Department to both employers and jobseekers.
