Westport Family and Community Resource Centre welcomed the CEO of the Family Resource Centre (FRC) National Forum, Fergal Landy, during a recent visit to the centre.
FCR’s National Forum CEO met with the Centre’s Voluntary Management Committee and staff team. The discussions focused on the importance of community spaces as well as the community development approach.
Sonya Murray, Chair of Westport Family & Community Resource Centre said that being part of this wider collective is a real strength: “Through the FRC Western Regional Forum and the national programme, our work here in Westport is linked into something bigger. Together, all Family Resource Centres can achieve more for families and communities across Ireland than any one Centre could do alone.

"All Family Resource Centres are guided by Voluntary Boards of Management drawn from their local areas, making community involvement central to how Centres are run. Each Centre’s programme of work is tailored to the needs of its own locality.
"Here in Westport, that mission is strengthened by the wider tradition of volunteerism that shapes so much of local life. With a variety of groups and initiatives, Westport continues to show a spirit of connection, participation, and giving back. Westport Family & Community Resource Centre is proud to be part of that tradition, working with and supporting the community in every way it can.
"With global instability and economic pressures here at home, investing in communities has never been more important. Strong communities can support families and face uncertainty with confidence."
