Busy Mayo town set for water disruption next week

Uisce Éireann works are set to cause disruption in the Sacred Heart School on the Castlebar Road in Westport.

Major water infrastructure works in Westport are set to cause outages as well as potential traffic disruption in the town, according to Mayo County Council.

The infrastructural upgrades are due to take place in the town next Monday (September 2) from 10am to 6pm.

The main area that is set to be affected is the Sacred Heart School, along with any surrounding premises on the Castlebar Road. There is also a potential for road closures in the area.

The works are occurring as part of a wider National Leakage Reduction Programme, which aims to improve the quality of water supplies around the country.

Premises in the affected area are advised to keep in mind that it may take up to four hours for the quality of the water supply to return to it's regular capacity, and apologises for any inconvenience the works may cause.
