In April, Clara Gardiner was awarded the title of ‘Mayo Rose’ at the 2025 Rose of Tralee.

However, she may have competition in the form of Buddy the cat, who has been awarded the title of ‘Mayo Nose’ for the 2025 Nose of Tralee.

Buddy was rescued by the North West SPCA in 2021 and was adopted by Jane Brady. At the time, he had one eye. However, that eye has since been removed due to an infection.

Since his Instagram and Facebook pages have been set up, he has garnered plenty of attention and interest.

Jane has also been in contact with the Mayo Rose, Clara Gardiner, in the hopes of setting up a meeting between the pair for a photograph.

“What he lacks in sight, he makes up for in spirit, love, and a truly impressive nose that has the ability to sniff out treats from a mile away,” his nomination states.

Today (Thursday, July 24), the voting has opened for the Nose of Tralee, in association with Pet Sitters Ireland. Voters can vote once per day, with the votes closing on Monday, August 18, at 5 pm.
