There’s no doubting it, James Carr’s footballing highlight definitely came in Mayo’s crunch Championship clash against Galway on July 6, 2019.

The Ardagh man’s slaloming run, after which he unleashed a stunning strike into the top corner of the net, was viewed the world over and clipped countless times.

However, if we’re talking off-field peaks, then Wednesday, July 16, 2025, definitely eclipses any goal or trophy.

In a snap posted to his Instagram page, the star revealed the birth of his new daughter, Katie Carr.

The image showed a beaming Carr alongside his partner Danielle as they welcomed their new child into the world.

The caption read “Welcome to the world wee lady ❤️ Katie Carr 16/07/2025”.

Many took to the comments to congratulate the pair, with Mayo All-Star Cillian O’Connor among the comments.

“Congrats Danielle & JC," the Ballintubber man wrote.

Current Mayo footballer Jordan Flynn also expressed his well-wishes.

Carr marked his daughter’s birth with a trophy in his first game after his daughter’s birth, driving his Ardagh side to win the Division Three league final on Sunday afternoon.

Time will tell if he’s back in Green and Red for 2026, but if he is, he’ll definitely have one more supporter willing him on.
