Gardaí are investigating an alleged incident of criminal damage in the West Mayo town of Westport.
They are appealing for witnesses that may have been in the town centre, or more specifically, around Altamount Street between 11.30pm on Monday night, June 23 and 1.30am on Tuesday morning, June 24 to contact Westport Garda Station by phone, or in person and it will be treated in confidence.

CCTV from the town centre is currently being examined. Gardaí are also appealing for any dashcam or doorbell footage during this time.
The Gardai have stated that “our message is very clear - incidents of criminal damage and anti-social behaviour of this nature, will not be tolerated, and will be fully investigated.”
Westport Tidy Towns are defiant and posted that “the show must go on - we will not be deterred by wanton vandalism.”
