The incident involving a cyclist and a car took place on the Louisburgh to Westport road at around 8 am

Mayo cyclist brought to hospital following collision

A cyclist has been taken to Mayo University Hospital following a collision involving a car early this morning (Thursday, April 3).

The incident occurred between the Kilsallagh junction and the junction at Old Head on the main Louisburgh to Westport Road.

Emergency services attended the scene of the incident, which took place shortly before 8 am. Following the crash, an Garda Síochana confirmed the cyclist was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.

The road is now fully operational.
