Funeral arrangements announced for Westport man who died suddenly in Corfu

Rhys Conway will be remembered always with love by his heartbroken family, neighbours and wide circle of friends.
Funeral arrangements have been confirmed for Rhys Conway of Pairc na Coille, Westport, County Mayo, whose death occurred unexpectedly on 26 August 2026 while he was on holidays in Corfu.
The news of the 24 year old’s passing has left his family, friends and the wider Westport community heartbroken.
He is predeceased by his brother Ryan and sister Shannon, his grandparents Mel and Kathleen, and Ann and Aidan, and his uncles Rory and Aidan.
He will be sadly missed and remembered always with love by his father Kenneth, his mother Linda (Jim), and his devastated sisters Sasha and Tia.
He is also mourned by his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, and by the extended Conway and Claxton families, along with his neighbours and wide circle of friends.
Rhys will repose at his home in Pairc na Coille on Friday, 4 September, from 11am to 7pm. The house will be strictly private at all other times.
His funeral will arrive at St. Mary's Church, Westport, on Saturday morning at 10:30am, with Requiem Mass beginning at 11am. Burial will follow afterwards in Aughavale Cemetery.
The family has requested family flowers only, and are encouraging those who wish to pay tribute to instead make a donation to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust in memory of Rhys — a charity which assists families with the cost of repatriating loved ones who die abroad.
May he rest in peace.
