Music is set to return to the Linenhall stage on Friday, June 19, with the ‘Music West Summer Recital.’ Bringing together young local performers, the recital celebrates musical achievement, dedication, and the joy of performance, showcasing a diverse programme of work from emerging musicians.

Film enthusiasts can enjoy the latest screening in the Linenhall Film Club series with ‘DJ Ahmet’ on Tuesday, June 16. Rich in humour, warmth and humanity, the film follows a 15-year-old boy from a remote Yuruk village in North Macedonia and explores themes of identity, friendship and self-expression through the transformative power of music.

Literature takes centre stage on Saturday, June 20, with ‘Somalia: A Nation of Poets’. This free event forms part of Mayo Refugee Week, and offers participants a chance to engage with the rich cultural heritage of Somalia through poetry, storytelling and discussion.

The Linenhall Visual Art Gallery continues to exhibit ‘Two Singers, One Song’ by Jackie Askew and Sheila Vollmer until July 4. Through painting, drawing and sculpture, the exhibition reflects a shared commitment to abstraction, while celebrating the creative dialogue that has developed through decades of friendship and artistic exchange.

Young people can also look forward to an exciting programme of summer activities in the weeks ahead. July will see the return of a range of creative camps and workshops, including opportunities in animation, storytelling, visual arts and imaginative play, providing engaging and accessible pathways into the arts for children and teenagers. Highlights include the ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ themed summer camp starting Tuesday, July 14, with visual artist Wayne O’Connor.

The Linenhall Visual Art Gallery's bi-annual Open Call is currently open until Friday, June 26, for artists interested in exhibiting in 2027 or 2028. Submission information is available via the Linenhall's website.
