Met Éireann annual data shows Mayo recorded higher-than-average temperatures and over 250 rainy days in 2025

Above-average temperatures and high rainfall recorded in Mayo in 2025

Weather data for 2025 shows that Mayo experienced above-average temperatures alongside a high number of rainy and wet days, according to figures from Met Éireann in their annual report. 

Annual mean temperatures recorded at weather stations across the county were higher than the long-term average for the 1991-2020 reference period. Belmullet recorded a yearly mean temperature of 10.4°C, around 0.8°C above its long-term average.

At Knock Airport, the annual mean temperature was 9.9°C, which is roughly 1.1°C above average.

Rainfall levels were also significant. At Newport, Met Éireann recorded rain on 258 days during the year. Of these, 216 days qualified as wet days, defined as days with rainfall totals of 1.0 mm or more.
