As part of a routine road patrol in Mayo yesterday (Monday, December 29), the attention of Gardaí was drawn to a vehicle which had a total of eight breaches of road traffic rules.
The car, which was detected travelling in Charlestown, had multiple non-compliances, including a broken wing mirror, missing front brake pads, no brake fluid in the reservoir, a bald tyre, and one working headlight.

There was also an NCT which had expired two and a half years ago, and no tax.
The driver was also an expired learner permit holder, who Gardaí say stated he was using the handbrake to slow the vehicle.
The vehicle was subsequently seized, with court proceedings to follow for the driver.
An Garda Síochána have subsequently re-emphasised the importance of ensuring that your vehicle is in good working condition ahead of the cold snap on the horizon.
