Today's Connacht College's Senior A encounter between Rice College from Westport and St Jarlath's of Tuam was called off just minutes before the scheduled 12.30pm throw-in in Cong because of a frozen pitch. Referee, Shane Corcoran, deemed the surface unplayable and the match has been refixed for tomorrow (Thursday) at 11am in The Connacht Centre of Excellence in Bekan.

The Mayo News understands that if grass pitches are unplayable for any reason in Bekan, the match will take place in the University of Galway Air Dome.

Today's match was scheduled to take place in St Feichin's Park in Cong, home of The Neale GAA. Both sides and busloads of supporters arrived. Rice College came out to warm up but didn't stay long on the pitch while the St Jarlath's players did not enter the pitch surroundings.

After walking the pitch and consulting with both management teams, the referee postponed the match and both sides will meet in Bekan tomorrow morning for what is a crucial clash in the race to qualify for the semi-finals.
