AUDIO Football Podcast #29: Tommy Lyons joins the Mayo manager race; Junior Championship round-up
After Monday night’s County Board meeting we have all the latest news as the search for a new senior football manager continues. The seven candidates for the job - John Maughan, James Horan, Denis Kearney, Anthony McGarry, Mick O’Dwyer, Tommy Lyons and Tommy Carr - have been given two weeks to submit their plans to a sub-committee of Mayo GAA Board. Rob Murphy is joined by Mike Finnerty and they discuss the meeting, the candidates and the way forward. They hear Andy Moran’s thoughts on the candidates and get the views of some some Mayo fans from Kilmeena.
They also hear from Ollie Feeney of Islandeady on his side's Junior Championship Quarter final victory over Castlebar Mitchels B and get his thoughts on the strengths and weaknesses of Junior football in the county. There is a full wrap on the Junior Championship quarter finals, a gripe about the protracted wait for the Club Championship semi-final draws and news on the FBD final in New York and some possible omissions from the travelling Mayo squad.
