AUDIO Football Podcast #22: Mayo v Offaly and Roscommon v Cork previewed
This week's podcast looks ahead to Mayo's All-Ireland Minor Quarter final clash with Offaly on Saturday at 12:30 in Roscommon. Speaking of the Rossies, they're in Croke Park on Sunday as Connacht champions, looking to topple Cork. Have they a prayer? Rob Murphy asks Edwin McGreal and Sean Rice for their thoughts.
They speak to former Shrule man Ger Butler, a former Mayo inter-county footballer who played under John O'Mahony in the late eighties and a current member of the Over-40s panel. Mike Finnerty recounts his conversation with John Tobin, head of coaching in Connacht, who has some interesting views on what needs to be done in Mayo. Sean Rice tells us of an interview 19 years ago with former Mayo manager Liam O'Neill, where O'Neill's pleas for change in fell on deaf ears. The similarities in what was been called for then and now are astounding.
