Talented Mayo side reach last 16 of National competition after impressive win

The Castlebar Celtic U-18 side who advanced in the FAI Youth Cup.

Over the weekend, Castlebar Celtic U-18’s made their way down South to face off against College Corinthians in the last 32 of the FAI Youth Cup.

Fixed for a 2pm kick off in Cork, the young Castlebar side set off on their journey, leaving Mayo at 6am on Sunday morning.

In a tough encounter against a talented side, the Hoops began impressively when Paddy Hope opened the scoring in the second half before attacker Oran Murphy secured the victory with a fine goal.

The Cork side are familiar with producing talented players such as Adam Idah, David Meyler and Chiedozie Ogbene who all played for the Douglas-based club. 

Castlebar Celtic’s impressive victory sees them progress into the last 16 of the national competition.
