Mayo soccer fans are in for a special treat over the next few weeks as Westport United host three of Sligo Rovers' pre-season matches in Abbvie United Park. Over the years, a strong bond has been built up between the Clew Bay club and The Bit O' Red, which has led to the Premier Division side decamping to Westport for this hugely exciting trio of matches. Indeed, one of the Sligo's impressive performers last season was Westport's own Conor Reynolds, who made a big impression at right back.

The matches are part of the club's Winter Series, and action gets underway on Saturday next, January 17, when Sligo Rovers face Treaty United with kick-off scheduled for 2pm. Six days later, on Friday evening, January 23, Rovers return to Westport to take on UCD at 6.30pm.

The Winter Series finishes on Saturday, January 24, when Sligo Rovers take on Galway United in the annual Adam Mulchrone Memorial Cup at 2pm.

The series of exciting matches gives supporters the chance to see League of Ireland soccer at close quarters and Westport United are expecting large numbers from all across Mayo to come along and enjoy the spectacle.
