Big blow as Mayo soccer club withdraw from Super League

Before today's announcement that they were withdrawing from the competition, Kiltimagh Knock sat second from bottom of the league on nine points after 14 games. They were five points ahead of bottom side Ballyhaunis Town who have played 15 games. Manulla sit third from bottom, six points ahead of Kiltimagh Knock, and they have played 16 games.

However, all of that is irrelevant now that Kiltimagh Knock have pulled out.

It had been a tough campaign for KKU who had won three games and lost eleven, scoring 16 goals and conceding 71. They infamously conceded 17 goals in one game against Westport United earlier in the campaign.

Obviously, the decision to withdraw from the league was not taken lightly and it's hoped that the team will soon be back in competitive action again.

It remains to be seen what impact this will have on the league and what action the Mayo Football League may take.
