SUPER LEAGUE
It was a hectic weekend of action in Mayo’s top flight, with the top of the table changing hands and relegation fears heightening even further. You can find four Super League reports in the sports section of Tuesday’s edition of The Mayo News.
Ballina Town were ruthless as they put Ballyhaunis Town to the sword in a 5-0 rout, meaning, bar a perfect set of circumstances, the Ballyhaunis man will be heading down. Kiltimagh Knock United aren’t gone yet, but they’ll be relying on favours from other sides if they are to leapfrog Manulla.
They’ll need to show better than they did on Sunday morning, though, as Ballinrobe Town put four past them in a comfortable day at the office.
PREMIER DIVISION
Westport United ‘B’ continued their march to the title with an impressive 3-1 win over Ballyheane ‘B’. Simeon Popov’s strike early on was eradicated by Conor Ludden early in the second half, but O’Malley and Casey wrapped up the points.
Ballyglass were well worth their 4-1 win on the road to Kilmore to maintain their grip on second place, but the 2-2 draw between Castlebar Celtic ‘B’ and Claremorris has given Iorras Aontaithe a chance of leapfrogging Claremorris in the promotion race.
Iorras themselves were ruthless, with four different goal scorers as they bested relegation-threatened Killala 4-1. Dara Padden, Luke McWilliams, Jamie Reilly and Cillian Flannery were on the scoresheet for the Erris men as veterans Harry Reilly and Paul Reilly made a big impression when introduced as substitutes.
Killala's fellow relegation strugglers Straide & Foxford United weren’t much better as they were also comprehensively beaten 4-1 by mid-table Crossmolina.

LEAGUE ONE
There is every chance that the title in this division could come down to goal difference between Swinford and Ballina Town ‘B’, and the latter gave that column a hefty boost with a 6-0 demolition of Ballyvary Blue Bombers, ensuring the Bombers are still mired in the battle to escape ninth place.
Swinford ensured that the jeopardy would continue in the race for silverware as a Joseph Slevin brace helped them dispose of Fahy Rovers. Conn Rangers ‘B’ secured a 2-2 draw over Claremorris ‘B’, although they could come to rue a late Ryan Quirke Claremorris leveller if they are relegated.
Elsewhere, Snugboro’s duo of Shea McAtamney and Odhran Donnelly both notched a pair of goals as they romped to victory over Bangor Hibs.
LEAGUE TWO
In a clash of the top two, second-placed Castlebar Town secured a slim victory over already-crowned league champions Achill Rovers to scupper their prospects of a perfect league season.
Ballinrobe Town ‘B’ ensured that the joust for second and promotion out of the fourth tier would go on at least another week, as they put a pasting on Fahy Rovers ‘B’. Liam Kilcullen was on fire as he ran in a whopping five goals.
Conn Rangers ‘C’ were in fine form as they beat Crossmolina ‘B’ 3-1, while Manulla recorded the same scoreline as they triumphed over Westport United ‘C’.
