The Calor Premier Cup made it’s way to Ballina after a penalty shootout in the early kick-off at a breezy Umbro Park on Sunday.

This was a cracking match played at a high intensity. Celtic were the better team for the first fifteen minutes but Town found their feet and gave as good as they got for the first half.

Simon Jordan found room at the edge of the six-yard box and coolly shot past Neil Langdon to give Celtic the lead after two minutes. It was a poor goal to concede for Ballina, but they tightened up defensively afterwards.

Ryan Moran scored a fine goal on fifteen minutes to level it. The remainder of the half was evenly contested, despite Celtic having the stiff, diagonal breeze at their backs.

Town were the better side for the entire second half, but couldn’t score. Neither side could find a winner in extra time, thus sending the final to penalties.

John Durkan, Ted Rowe, Jamie Langdon and Ryan Moran all scored for Town. Conor Joyce, Mark Rattigan and Dylan Felle replied for Celtic but it wasn’t enough.
