Westport United put in a dominant performance against a struggling Manulla side - who will be fighting for their Super League survival on the last day of this season after fellow strugglers Claremorris beat a favoured Crossmolina 4-0.

Second place up against ninth in the Mayo Super League, it was clear from kick-off that there was an edge in class.

The impressive Dylan O’Malley opened the scoring after 35 minutes with a long range shot that flew past Manulla Goalkeeper, Jack Livingston.

Seven minutes later, Kevin Kitterick slotted home Westport’s second, with a nice finish into the bottom corner of the goal.

Good work down the wing by Manulla led to a great chance for captain, Ruairi Henry, but his shot took a deflection and went wide.

The score read 3-0 to the Covies at the interval.

Six minutes into the second half, it got worse for the chasers as centre-back Darren Fernandes put the ball into his own net after a good low cross from Dylan O’Malley.

Cillian White registered Westport’s fourth of the afternoon as he chested the ball down and unleashed a superb volley to make it 4-0.

Jack Dawson got his name on the scoresheet midway through the second half. Fifteen minutes later Dan O`Malley made it 6-0 before substitute Cillian Mc Ging capped off a fine win with the seventh goal.
