Mayo rugby club Castlebar RFC have enjoyed a successful start into their Connacht Junior 1A League campaign so far. The team won three out of four matches.
And there's more positive news for the club, as president Kevin McGing confirmed to The Mayo News:
The new stand has been finished: "The stand is required to give shelter from the weather from the west as most people who come to games know you have to face it from the roadside."
Also new dugouts were installed. Castlebar RFC decided to build it a couple of years ago, when Jimmy Staunton was president. "We didn't have room for it on our own grounds" president McGing explained, "so I approached the land owner Francis Carter who generously donated the small piece of ground required and facilitated access via his own property to save us from damage to our pitch."
The club financed the project independently. There will be an official opening as part of the club's 140-year-anniversary next year with no specific date for it yet.
