Warm tributes paid to Kildare expat after passing in Mayo

Philomena (Phil) Heffernan, Manor Brook, Knock Road, Ballyhaunis, RIP

The death took place peacefully in Brookvale Manor Nursing Home, Ballyhaunis, last week of Philomena (Phil) Heffernan, Manor Brook, Knock Road, Ballyhaunis, Mayo, and formerly of Millicent Domain, Sallins, Kildare, and Ballybunnion, Kerry.

Phil and her husband Michael, came to reside in Ballyhaunis around 20 years ago and fell in love with the town and its people.

There was a lovely decency about them that endeared them to many and they were closely associated with the Tidy Towns Committee.

They were synonymous with church and parish activities in the area. They were also known to many through their regular walks around town and were held in fond regard by all who knew them.

Reposing was in Gavin’s Funeral Home and interment took place in Knock cemetery following the funeral Mass celebrated by Fr Stephen Farragher in St Patrick’s Church, Ballyhaunis.

Phil will be sadly missed by her husband Michael, sisters Ann and Amanda, brother-in-law David, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.
