Conor Heneghan (pictured) and Ultan Mc Dyer are in the hunt to secure a pro card at Q School.

This week sees a big opportunity for darts players to gain an entry into the PDC tournaments as Q School takes place.

There are two Mayo representatives involved as Castlebar’s Ultan Mc Dyer and Roundfort’s Conor Heneghan have travelled to the U.K in an attempt to make it onto the professional darting circuit. The event is taking place in Milton Keynes in England.

With hundreds of talented players competing for just 29 professional tour cards, it’s expected to be a hugely competitive field with well known names such as Kevin Painter, Steve Beaton, Jose De Sousa, Mervyn King and Fallon Sherrock. Andreas Harryson and Charlie Manby who both made it to the last 16 at the World Darts Championship in recent weeks at Alexandra Palace will also feature.

Both Mayo men begin their campaign in the First Stage, which will get underway today (Monday) while you can follow their progress online on DartConnect.
