Mayo horse rider Hannah Gordon has claimed success at the RDS Horse Show in Dublin.
With her horse DS Ballagh Bouncer, Gordon won the Performance Irish Draught 6-year-old and older class:
"Finally we've managed to pull this off and win the championship," said the Crossmolina woman afterwards.
"Even my husband realises, he's the love of my life," Gordon smiled, beaming with joy, talking about her horse.
The class 1 Irish Draft stallion, DS Ballagh Bouncer, has done 'absolutely everything', she explained:
"From show jumping, eventing dressage, he's qualified for this performance class."
Gordon comes from a family with equestrian pedigree, as she stated in a recent online interview: “My mom is a Corcoran so her family have always been involved in horses; her brother is Padraic Corcoran.”
Herself a physiotherapist three days a week, Gordon spends the rest of her time producing Connemaras, Irish Draughts and sport horses to the highest level.
Hannah's career when she was still in school, was greatly helped by her grandfather, who had an indoor arena in Crossmolina. She was able to go there in the afternoon ride her pony.
It all has all come full circle for her now, winning the dressage event at the RDS.
The Irish Horse Board wrote: "The Performance Irish Draught 6-year-old and older class had everything at the Dublin Horse Show today (Wednesday, August 6): big movers, scopey jumpers, and a serious dose of dynamite breeding."
