There is great excitement in boxing circles after it was announced recently that Knockmore-Foxford Boxing Club will build a new premises in Foxford.
The sod will be turned next month and it is envisaged the building will be completed by the beginning of the new season in September. The contractor selected to complete the project is Clydesdale Construction under the management of Seamus Ryder. The club recently held a two-day bucket collection to help raise much-needed funds and the public was extremely generous. The two top fundraisers in the bucket collection in aid of the new building were Michael Howley and Cian Hannigan.
The club’s second tournament of the season will be staged next Sunday, January 19, in the Foxford Sports and Leisure Centre. Prior to the main event the Vincy James Memorial Cup, all KFC underage boxers will get the opportunity to show their skills in the boxing ring from 1pm.
