AN All-Ireland title will spend the winter in Kiltimagh after the local secondary school’s volleyball team captured the School Volleyball All-Ireland Senior Boys ‘B’ title.
The mid-Mayo town is fast becoming the home of volleyball in Mayo, and St Louis Community School only enhanced that reputation with a convincing win over Coláiste Muire Máthair from Galway.
An impressive first set paved the way for a slick, cohesive St Louis to take the title after winning a somewhat tighter second set in this best-of-three encounter.
Nearly the entire team are members of West Bolts, a club formed last year in Kiltimagh with players drawn from all over Mayo.
Hugh Langan, a setter with West Bolts and a current member of the Irish U-22 team, earned the additional honour of MVP in the All-Ireland final.
